A Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination is mandated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) in order to ensure that commercial drivers and other safety-sensitive employees are healthy enough to work safely. At NOWmed, we make the process quick and simple, without an appointment!

A DOT physical should not replace an annual wellness physical.

What to Bring

  1. List of your medications including dosages and frequency

  2. List of your doctors’ names and addresses

  3. Have problems with vision, diabetes, your heart or other medical conditions? Check this sheet to see if you need to bring special documents.

  4. Bring any required forms with the Driver Information and Health History sections completed.

Please Note: If you call ahead —  we can give you a link to fill out the forms online before you show up!

No Appointment Needed

You don’t need an appointment for a DOT examination. But, we suggest calling ahead so we can have you fill out the forms online ahead of time.

What the Examination Entails

1. Vision Check

2. Hearing Check

3. Blood pressure/pulse rate

4. Urinalysis

5. Physical Examination - “Head to Toe”

6. A discussion about your medical and psychiatric history

Same-Day Paperwork

Everything is filled out the same day. If you pass, you will receive your certificate the same day.

Cost: $110 (Cash or credit card)

A DOT physical can only be completed by a medical examiner certified by the FMCSA. All of our providers at NOWmed are DOT-certified. It is up to the Medical Examiner to determine if a candidate meets all the requirements, and to mark the report to the best of their knowledge.
